Take the bus to Mangalsen (10h from Dhangadhi), where you can also find accommodations. There is a beautiful way to drive by private car or public bus from Mangalsen to Ramaroshan Area (approx. 4h).
Ramaroshan is situated in the Achham district, at an altitude of about 2,500m. The area has twelve beautiful lakes and 18 meadows, locally known as patans. To the North, there is an impressive series of sedimentary rock cliffs. These are regularly climbed by the locals, who climb about 100 meters to harvest honey! This area also has a spectacular view! You will be able to see the Budhiganga basin, along with the majestic peaks of Mount Api, Mount Saipal, and Badi Malika Temple. Besides the majestic mountains, you may also spot wild boars, bears, and occasionally tigers around Ramaroshan!
Legend has it, the area’s name is derived from the God Rama. Rama used to come to a peaceful place called Roshan, therefore, the name “Ramaroshan”. Today, there are two neighboring wetlands called Rama and Roshan. The site is also important for Hindus, since Shiva and Parvarti supposedly spent time in this area right after their wedding.
