Mahendranagar is connected to other parts of Nepal by East-West Highway. It will take you 2 hours to reach Dhangadhi by bus. There are daily buses going to hill destinations such as Dipayal, Baitadi, Dadeldura and Darchula.
Mahendranagar is the most western city of the Far West Nepal and border crossing into India (5km east of the Indian Border). From Indian side, Mahendranagar, is mere a 7-hour-drive away from Delhi and only half-an-hour drive from the Dudhwa National Park of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is about 1km from the border post in India (Banbassa) to the Nepali border post at Gaddhachauki. Entering Nepal in Mahendranagar you are able to obtain your tourist visa for Nepal.
Being a gateway to Nepal, Mahendranagar offers interesting activities such as visit of Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, unique Tharu Village experiences as well as short hikes to the hills.
